The best goalkeepers to sign in FC 27 Career Mode

SCOUTED is a magazine about youth football. Turns out, all that knowledge is pretty handy for FC 27 Career Mode, who'da thought?

Using our big brains, we’ve picked out a few of our favourite young goalkeepers to sign on your EA FC 27 Career Mode saves. From Chris Brady to Mio Backhaus, these are some of the best young GKs in the new game.

If you’re looking for older players, we have you covered: we've added a collection of the ten highest overall goalkeepers at the start of your save, too.

Let's get into the 'keepers.

Who are the best goalkeepers in EA FC 27 Career Mode?

The best goalkeepers in EA SPORTS FC 27 Career Mode are those with the highest overall rating at the start of the game. Here's a list, including their overall at the start of the game, and their highest possible potential rating (in brackets):

  1. Thibaut Courtois - 90 (90)
  2. Gianluigi Donnarumma - 89 (90)
  3. David Raya - 88 (88)
  4. Jan Oblak - 88 (91)
  5. Alisson - 87 (90)
  6. Gregor Kobel - 87 (89)
  7. Mike Maignan - 87 (88)
  8. Joan Garcia - 86 (89)
  9. Marco Carnesecchi - 86 (88)
  10. Diego Costa - 86 (88)

Unsurprisingly, there's not a huge amount of room for the best goalkeepers in the world to improve, and they're likely to set you back a lot of money.

You want to target potential instead. That's where we come in.

Here's our collection of the best young goalkeepers to target in FC 27: those who can be bought cheap relative to their eventual value, and who you can carefully develop into the best goalkeepers in the game.

Now, let's get stuck into this year's list of the best goalkeepers to sign on EA FC 27 Career Mode.

Robin Risser

Age: 21
Position: GK
Club: RC Lens
Nation: France
Market Value: £30.5m

Risser is the big-budget option and comes into the game as the reigning Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year after a sensational campaign for Lens, finishing second to PSG and winning the Coupe de France.

84 Kicking and 84 Reflexes are his best stats, a lovely combination for a modern-day goalkeeper that provides security in build-up and stands tall when called upon. He will develop into one of the best 'keepers in the game, if you can afford him.

  • Overall: 81
  • Potential: 87
  • Potential Growth: +6

Mio Backhaus

Age: 22
Position: GK
Club: SC Freiburg
Nation: Germany
Market Value: £18.5,

Mio Backhaus has established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons. His breakthrough campaign for Werder Bremen was followed by a move to SC Freiburg to replace Noah Atubolu after his move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Pushing to become a German international, representing them from U-15 to U-21 level, he is also eligible for Japan.

On FC 27, you'll be signing a solid shot-stopper with 82 Reflexes his standout attribute.

  • Overall: 77
  • Potential: 85
  • Potential Growth: +8

Chris Brady

Age: 22
Position: GK
Club: Chicago Fire
Nation: USA
Market Value: £3.3m

Another shot-stopper beyond all else, we first came across Chris Brady when searching for fascinating young players in MLS. Brady stood out for the simple reason that he is an undisputed starter for Chicago Fire, establishing himself as number one despite his young age.

He doesn't quite reach the level of the previous two picks, but does offer more growth and at a fraction of the price. 74 Diving is his best goalkeeping stat in-game.

  • Overall: 71
  • Potential: 82
  • Potential Growth: +11

Pierce Charles

Age: 21
Position: GK
Club: Queens Park Rangers
Nation: Northern Ireland
Market Value: £2.7m

If you love a ball-playing goalkeeper then go and get Pierce Charles straight away. The smallest 'keeper on our list, his development at Manchester City is obvious in the way he plays and is reflected in-game; it's probably why they bought him back from Sheffield Wednesday this summer and loaned him to QPR.

65 Long Pass, 61 Short Pass and 70 Vision are all promising for a 69 Overall Rating, but they will all shoot up as he the Northern Ireland international progresses towards that 83 Potential.

  • Overall: 69
  • Potential: 83
  • Potential Growth: +14

Enis Kamga

Age: 19
Position: GK
Club: 1. FC Kaiserslautern
Nation: Germany
Market Value: £275k

Enis Kamga ticks a couple of boxes when it comes to surface level goalkeeper scouting: he's a big f***ing German. Standing at 1.95m tall, he has already represented Germany at various age groups.

Cheap as chips and with a potential growth of +21, Kamga is a teenage talent worth investing in.

  • Overall: 62
  • Potential: 83
  • Potential Growth: +21

Joeri Heerkens

Age: 20
Position: GK
Club: Ajax
Nation: Netherlands
Market Value: £625k

Joeri Heerkens featured in our UEFA U-19 EURO Team of the Tournament in 2025 and has since made a switch from Sparta Praha to Ajax.

We liked him because he's built like a proper ‘keeper - tall, long and solid - and he was generally a reassuring presence between the sticks for the Dutch as they went on to win that tournament for the first time ever.

In your FC 27 Career Mode, he represents a budget option with plenty of room to grow into a well-rounded goalkeeper in the traditional mould.

  • Overall: 66
  • Potential: 82
  • Potential Growth: +16
