The Turkish Diaspora: UEFA U-19 EURO, Matchday 2

Our scouting round-up of MD2 of the men's tournament in Northern Ireland.

The Turkish Diaspora: UEFA U-19 EURO, Matchday 2

Italy look like the clear favourites for this men’s UEFA U-19 EURO title. Read on to find out why, but to sum them up in three words: “they are stacked.”

Matchday 2 saw them introduce the prodigious Francesco Camarda to the fray, and he made an immediate impact with two goals despite playing three years up. These goals tag onto a summer in which he’s already won an U-17 EURO title as well as the Player of the Tournament award.

You can catch up on our MD1 round-up below, which focuses on the tremendous Simone Pafundi — another shining starlet of this Azzurini side.

Pafundi Perfetto: UEFA U-19 EURO, Matchday 1
After all the hullabaloo of EURO 2024 in Germany, we can now unwind with the lazily-paced men’s UEFA U-19 EURO in Northern Ireland. Eight teams play out four games across two days, with a rest in between each round. Perfect. This is the tournament that doesn’t quite fit into the increasingly relentless football calender. It’s mid-July start means clubs are reluctant to let their youngsters compete in it when they want, or need, them for their own pre-season. That means the squads we see aren’t quite as strong as they would be.

But on with this show, as Stephen Ganavas walks you through its goings on.

In this MD2 round-up:

  • Italy’s “stacked” team with exciting potentials
  • Why clubs should sign Aaron Ciammaglichella
  • The usually-dominant Spain flatter to deceive
  • Another good set of Turkish disapora prospects
