The best left-backs to sign in FC 25 Career Mode
From Jorrel Hato to Harry Amass, here's a curated of the best young left-backs to sign on your FC25 Career Modes

SCOUTED is a magazine about youth football. Turns out, all that knowledge is pretty useful for FC25 Career Mode, who'da thought?
We’ve picked out a few of our favourite young left-backs that would be suitable signings on your EA FC 25 Career Mode saves. From Patrick Dorgu to Valentín Barco, these are some of the best young LBs in the game.
If you’re looking for older players, we have you sorted too: we've compiled the ten highest overall left-backs at the start of your save into an easy list, too. And if you want more left-backs to sign, you're in the right place: SCOUTED has you sorted, just click around.

Who are the best Left-Backs (LBs) in FC 25 Career Mode?
The best left-backs in FC 25 Career Mode are those with the highest overall rating. Here's a handy list, including their overall at the start of the game, and their highest possible potential rating (in brackets):
- Theo Hernández - 87 (89)
- João Cancelo - 86 (86)
- Álex Grimaldo - 86 (86)
- Andrew Robertson - 85 (85)
- David Alaba - 85 (85)
- Ferland Mendy - 84 (84)
- Federico Di Marco - 84 (85)
- Nathan Aké - 84 (85)
- Nuno Mendes - 83 (87)
- Joško Gvardiol - 83 (87)
Unsurprisingly, very few of these players have any space to grow. Only the youngsters (Gvardiol and Mendes, both 22) can significantly improve during the course of your save.
That's hardly surprising considering many of these players are either 30 already (Alaba, Robertson, Cancelo) or pushing it (Grimaldo, Mendy, Aké).
The point is that left-back is a great position to buy young and develop. Luckily, there are a host of young left-backs just waiting for you to scout and poach. Here's a list of our favourites, with detail.
The six best young Left-Backs (LBs) to sign and develop in FC 25 Career Mode
For easy reference, here's our list. Don't worry - we'll dive into detail momentarily. As before, their rating is included alongside their potential (in brackets).
- Jorrel Hato - 75 (88)
- Harry Amass - 60 (85)
- Lewis Hall - 73 (85)
- Valentín Barco - 73 (84)
- Almugera Kabar - 63 (83)
- Octavio Ontivero - 62 (83)
Some of these players can grow by as much as 25 points and can be picked up for cheap - making them well worth the investment in time and cash. Let's dive in.

Jorrel Hato
Positions: LB, CB
Club: AFC Ajax (NED)
Nation: Netherlands
Transfer Value: €12.5million
Ajax may be in perhaps the stickiest period of their modern history, but they haven’t stopped pumping out ballers. Jorrel Hato is their most touted defensive talent since Jurrien Timber, whom Hato named as his idol. Like Timber, Hato is a multifaceted talent capable of playing in midfield, although left-back is where he really shines.
At 73 starting overall and 88 potential, Hato is one of FC25’s best defensive talents and well worth the meagre €12.5m market value. For a kid who’s already captained Ajax and played for the Netherlands national side, that is an absolute bargain. Move now before EA change their minds.
- Overall: 73
- Potential: 88
- Potential Growth: +15

Harry Amass
Position: LB
Club: Manchester Uniited (ENG)
Nation: England
Market Value: €750k
Manchester United’s Harry Amass is a fascinating buy. At just 60 starting overall, he’s not a player you’ll want to pick up and play straight off – but his potential overall of 85 reflects how much United rate him and means he’s well worth the investment.
At a market value of just €750k, Amass is a must-buy for development managers in his first EAFC appearance. He already has 76 sprint speed at his current overall, so expect a zippy boy to develop.
- Overall: 60
- Potential: 85
- Potential Growth: +25

Lewis Hall
Position: LB
Club: Newcastle United (ENG)
Nation: England
Market Value: €7 million
Following his move from Chelsea to Newcastle United in 2023, Lewis Hall didn't nail down the starting left-back spot as quickly as some expected - but he sure has now. At the start of the game his market value is just €7m, for which you get a very well-rounded player.
Hall has everything you want in a full-back. He’s great on the ball, agile, quick off the mark and a solid passer. A starting overall of 73 feels like he’s a little underrated, but his potential of 85 seems just right. Grab him and watch him shine.
- Overall: 73
- Potential: 85
- Potential Growth: +12

Valentín Barco
Position: LB
Club: Brighton & Hove Albion
Nation: Argentina
Market Value: €6.5 million
A long-time SCOUTED favourite, two scouting heavyweights battled for Valentin Barco’s signature last year – Brighton eventually beat Manchester City to get him. If that doesn’t tell you what kind of player Barco is, I don’t know what will.
An inverting left-back capable of playing in midfield, Barco’s strengths are his passing and vision stats from full-back, and his exceptional balance and agility. He’s on loan to Sevilla right now, and expect his 73 starting overall to go up quickly with game time. At 84 potential, Barco is a perfect buy for managers who like to playmake from wide areas – although a €6.5m market value, no release clause and starting wage of €37k mean you’ll need at least a moderate budget to pry him from Brighton.
- Overall: 73
- Potential: 84
- Potential Growth: +11
Almugera Kabar
Position: LB
Club: Borussia Dortmund (GER)
Nation: Germany
Market Value: €1.3 million
Hailing from youth football darlings Borussia Dortmund, Almugera Kabar is a perfect value buy. Breaking into the limelight for Germany’s youth international teams, Kabar is now on the fringes of Dortmund’s senior eleven – and his athletic profile makes it easy to see why.
With impressive acceleration, sprint speed, agility and balance, Kabar is capable of making an impact from the off, if you’re willing to deal with his somewhat janky 63 starting overall. But with an 83 overall potential and the capability to fill in further up the field – as well as at right-back – Kabar’s release clause of just €3.5m make him a smart choice for keen developers.
- Overall: 63
- Potential: 83
- Potential Growth: +20

Octavio Ontivero
Position: LB
Club: CA Lanús
Nation: Argentina
Market Value: €1.2 million
A final shout for those looking for a player similarly priced to Kabar, consider Octavio Ontivero from Lanús in Argentina. An 18-year-old yet to make a real impact on senior football, Ontivero is very much one for the future, but don’t sniff at his 83 potential.
Low wages and a €3m release clause make him a true budget buy if you’re willing to develop him. His contract ends in 2026, so pick him up before a renewal and you’re laughing.
