The first annual SCOUTED Stat Awards
Discover the records broken by Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, Pedri and more.

I have been looking forward to this newsletter all season. I know that football is not played on a spreadsheet and numbers do not win you games. But I absolutely love sorting columns at the end of the season.
For years, I have wanted to celebrate more than the Golden Boot. Yes, the top assist providers are getting more recognition. Yes, goalkeepers have the Golden Glove. Even Ligue 1, for the first time ever, awarded the Best Dribbler trophy in 2024/25 - Rayan Cherki was the inaugural recipient. I want more of that. It starts with this newsletter.
- Michael Olise breaks a Trent Alexander-Arnold record
- Lamine Yamal is approaching Messi levels
- Pedri goes where no player has gone before
- Real Madrid have the ultimate break-glass-in-case-of-emergency centre-forward
Not only am I going to document the stat leaders for a raft of metrics across the season, but I will reference the per 90 winners and the single game record tallies. We’re even going to find out if any of this season’s leaders have set a database record with their output - spoiler alert: they are plenty.
Of course, all of this would not be possible without a Stathead subscription. I cannot emphasise enough how much I have used this tool this season. Everything I do is based on this data and if you sign up you will have full access to all of the links provided.

From here on out, I will (try to) let the screenshots do most of the talking. Ok, let’s go.

Goals + Assists
Michael Olise finished 2024/25 with more league goals + assists across Europe’s Big Five Leagues than any other player that started the season under the age of 23, scoring 12 goals and provided 15 assists. Half of the top 10 are French.

This did not crack the top 20 for the modern era. The top spot is occupied by Andrew Cole, who started the 1993/94 season as a 21-year-old and finished it with 34 goals and 13 assists (14 according to FBRef). And there was not a single penalty in sight.

20 players have reached 30+ G/A in a Big Five League when starting the season under the age of 23. Only Cole, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland have broken 40+. Who’s going to be next?
1.1 - Mika Biereth (2003, AS Monaco)
4 - Florian Wirtz (21y-232d), Fermin López (21y-260d), Michael Olise (22y-284) and Cole Palmer (22y-111d & 22y-145d)
