The UEFA U-17 European Championship has come and gone for another year.

For the longest time it looked like reigning champions Italy were set to romp to a defence of their title: then up stepped Romário Cunha and Portugal. After a fairly comfortable run through the group, the Portuguese rode their shootout high in the semi to dismantle France in the final, and then we knew our continental champions at this age group for another year.

A reduced format saw just eight teams take the field this time around as opposed to the usual 16. That was great for our workloads and sleep cycles, but resulted in a limited pool of talent and perhaps a stunted tournament. We certainly didn’t get to see as much of certain players as we’d have liked.

Still, there were clear standouts, and lots of players rocketed onto our shortlists and the SCOUTED Database. As we do every year, we’ve curated a selection of eleven we enjoyed watching most, as well as a bunch of honourable mentions.

Without further ado, we gladly introduce the future of European football.
