Following his goal against Le Havre at the weekend, Désiré Doué became one of eight players from across Europe’s top seven leagues to be directly involved in 20+ goals across all competitions in 2025.
This calendar year, Doué has averaged a goal or assist once every 86.4 minutes. The Frenchman’s performances in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages attracted the mainstream glare, roaming from wing to wing in an attempt to blow open the game. But it was his most recent ‘position’ against Le Havre that prompted me to revisit a comparison I made earlier this season.
