Antidotes for the monotony of modern football

Monday Night SCOUTED prescribes the following: Morocco’s historic Under-20 World Cup winners and Europe's most direct young players

Antidotes for the monotony of modern football

I’ve been having a little think.

I try to cram so much information into each of these newsletters, to provide maximum value for anyone kind enough to pay to read them. However, Monday Night SCOUTED has become an amalgamation of too many thoughts.

Instead, moving forward, you will continue to get the MNS deep dive delivered to your inbox every Monday, but I'll publish the additive sections separately in their own newsletter. I’m doing this for a couple of reasons:

  1. I believe SCOUTED Stats is a very useful player discovery tool. But I also realise that pouring through lists of numbers is not of interest to every reader. By publishing SCOUTED Stats as its own newsletter, not only can I explore certain player achievements in more detail, but it gives people the option as to whether they would like to see it in the first place.
  2. We need to continue to increase SCOUTED’s discoverability beyond our loyal audience. By splitting MNS into different parts, we can set up each individual newsletter for their own success and ensure the most delicious nuggets of insight are not lost.

We still want to avoid spamming your inboxes; the last thing we want is for this to become a churn. More is not more.

This is where feedback is so important. If you read this week’s Monday Night SCOUTED and feel like something is missing, let me know. If your email inbox reaches saturation point, let me know. This process can be tweaked and is not a definitive change.

At its core, I still want MNS to be a download of my brain. This will be the stream of consciousness related to the events of the weekend. There will still be multiple threads. I have two for you this week.

Tonight, on Monday Night SCOUTED:
- The triumphant roar of the Atlas Cubs
- The difference between Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton
- The midfielder Man Utd and Liverpool should be scouting
- The buccaneering Italian wing-back I can't wait to sign on FM26
- The one-man army making his top-flight debut

The triumphant roar of the Atlas Cubs

For the first time in their history, Morocco have won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. In their first-ever final, they beat record six-time winners Argentina, who had won all six previous games at this year’s tournament and had not even conceded a goal in the previous three knockout games.

But the Atlas Cubs were too strong, too quick, too well-organised and simply too good for La Albiceleste. The best part is that none of this is a fluke. Morocco are becoming a genuine force at all age groups across men’s and women’s football.
