Andrey Santos: WTF?

The Brazilian's output makes no sense. Or does it?

Andrey Santos: WTF?

We surveyed our readers recently - thanks to everyone who responded, you're wonderful - and as a result we're making some (minor) tweaks to Monday Night SCOUTED. I love the toggle feature on the new website, but it does not translate well to email. So, in order to avoid putting you off with the barrage of numbers I use to scratch my brain on a Monday morning, we'll dive straight into the featured story instead.

The format of SCOUTED Stats has not changed at all but I appreciate it can be an overwhelming amount of information to digest. That's why it has returned to its original home as an annex to this newsletter. Jump straight to it, save it for another day, it's entirely up to you. I hope this small change makes a big difference to your Monday Night SCOUTED reading experience. Which starts...now.

Tonight, on Monday Night SCOUTED:
- Breaking down the head-scratching output of Andrey Santos
- Hugo Ekitiké is a comp-maker's dream
- Cole Palmer has gone cold but is still breaking records
- A Teenage Mutant Spanish Centre-back monsterclass

Andrey Santos, the anomaly

Andrey Santos is having a freaky season. In the best way.

The Brazilian provided multiple assists in a single game for the first time in his senior career at the weekend, setting up both Strasbourg goals in their 2-2 draw against Nice. He now has nine goals and three assists in 27 Ligue 1 games in 2024/25. This is why I wanted to write about him. Straight away, I had two ‘tests’ in mind. The first: the box-to-box evaluation.
